You can make links explicit, as in “Click here to access RStudio.”

becomes the highlighted link to click.
The actual link, enclosed by the (), is not visible in the Markdown document.
Or, you can highlight entire phrases, such as “The R-project homepage is the starting location to learn about R.”
In this example, the [R-project homepage]
phrase is the highlighted link to click.
Files can be a bit trickier, mostly because of file pathnames.
For now, we’ll assume everything is nestled under your OS home directory.
This is what a link to a file, such as a .pdf, will look like.
The [.pdf]
is the clickable link.
